Pimp out my X61 please?

I have a Thinkpad x61 with a core2duo, 4mb cache, 1 gb ddr2 667, 7200rpm HD. I uninstalled vista and put XP on it..and now it flys. What software do you recommend to maintain its quickness or to increase it? I don’t wanna bother with a notebook cooler. I dont game on it. Also, If I have it plugged in constantly, should I remove the battery ? or keep it in.

well, you have a nice rig indeed
& no wonder with xp the system flies
1 gig of ram should be more than sufficient for now

now that you’ve hit the pink spot, why do you want to disturb it
allow your applications to do the talking
and if they need more ram, it will become evident to you soon
ddr2 ram is pretty much cheap pesently

you could try ‘system mechanic professional’
sure keeps your system in top shape

free to try for 30 days … buy it if it suits ya after that, else chuck it out … un-install i mean

as regards removing the batteries when constantly plugged in, it’s not an issue as your laptop is well equipped with a charge monitoring circuit, which senses that the batteries are fully charged and hence no overcharging possible
just use it naturally and enjoy yourself
