Can i set an alarm clock on my laptop?
…and leave it open next to me all night? like its a toshiba.
Sure, and you could even avoid power consumption. This is something I usually do on my Windows XP notebook without needing any extra software:
1. I launch “Schedule Tasks” from the Control panel and create a new task, which might be called “WakeMeUpWithMusic”.
2. Open the task Properties and browse for a nice MP3 song clicking the Browse button and changing the filter to “All files (*.*)”.
3. Check “Execute only if logged on”.
4. Set the time and date I want the song to be played on the “Schedule” tab.
5. On the “Settings” tab, check the “Wake the computer to run this task”, uncheck the upper battery options and click the Apply button to finally hit OK.
6. Close the Schedule tasks window and hibernate the computer.
The next morning, the computer turns itself on automatically and the song starts playing on my favorite media player. Just don’t forget to adjust the volume to a nice level.
