Can the problem just be my power button on my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop?
I had Dell replace my motherboard because I couldn’t get the laptop to power on. In a couple weeks, I had the same problem. I replaced the motherboard again. When I remove all source of power, then plug it back in, it boots up. But again the power button does nothing. I cannot power off with it – or power on with it.
The power button as well as the volume control buttons and the circuitry are all on the strip that plugs into the computer. I have removed the entire strip, and the computer still powers on when plugged in (or battery). After I plugged the strip back in, the volume control buttons on the same strip work fine. But the power button – nothing.
Will replacing the strip fix the issue?
